Changing Technology

April 23, 2008

The items in these pictures show how technology has changed even in the recent past. All items were brought into school by 5th class pupils.

The mobile phones show how size and attractiveness has become a factor in the development of the phone.

The James Last record here was mush more prone to scratching and was more awkward to carry about than the CD.

The shoe-polish set is still used, but most people use a liquid polish now, as it is more convenient and portable.

Finally, the radio, while pretty was not suitable for trips to the beach or family picnics. Tuning has been replaced by autodial, and Medium Wave signal was finally abandoned by RTE two weeks ago.
